Bismillahi, here are another five tips that will help your child succeed in their hingaad journey. A successful hingaad paves the way for Qur’an memorization. If you are really keen on your child’s Qur'an learning then you start from their hingaad.

6.Know your Child’s teacher.

A student is as good as his teacher. As a parent it is very important you choose your child’s teacher wisely by knowing about their qualification, experience and their relationship with their students. You should talk to parents whose children learn under that teacher and if it is possible to talk with the teacher and ask any questions you have in a respectful manner. Some of the most important things you can ask the teacher is how they teach, the curriculum they use, their schedule and how they help learners who are struggling in their class.

7. Take your Child to Dugsi at the Right Age.

Time is very important and you don’t wanna be keeping a child who is 7 years old in the house and they can’t even read the Alif, that is why I recommend taking students to dugsi as young as 4 years and a half. I know we need to keep in mind that sometimes 4-year-olds might not be ready for dugsi but if you see your child is ready for dugsi at that age, you should take them as earlier as possible.

8. Encourage

I think the most important task we can do is building confidence in our children and encouraging them to continue learning . We teach them the benefits and the reward one receives from Allah for memorizing the Qur’an and learning the deen. Once in a while, you give them gifts when they do great in their Studies or they complete a chapter and you also stand with them and be there for them when they are not doing so well. Tell them it is okay to make mistakes cause it is part of learning. Be a source of inspiration for them and they will always succeed Insh-Allah.

9. Understanding is the key.

Students are learning the hingaad in order to be able to read the Qur’an. Your child needs to understand hingaad and not memorize. They need to know what is Fatha, Kasra, and Dhamma and all the other parts of Hingaad. When they understand it they can use that kind of knowledge to read the Qur’an with no help. As a parent, we need to keep in mind that Hingaad is a means to an end and the goal here to read the Qur’an with no support from the teacher or from any other source.

10.Dua

Allah tells us in the Qur’an وَإِذَا سَأَلَكَ عِبَادِي عَنِّي فَإِنِّي قَرِيبٌ ۖ أُجِيبُ دَعْوَةَ الدَّاعِ إِذَا دَعَانِ ۖ فَلْيَسْتَجِيبُوا لِي وَلْيُؤْمِنُوا بِي لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْشُدُونَ — 2:186 And when My servants ask you, [O Muhammad], concerning Me — indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me. So let them respond to Me [by obedience] and believe in Me that they may be [rightly] guided.

As you exert your effort in following the tips don’t forget to make dua to Allah so for your children and for their teacher. We ask Allah to forgive our shortcomings and bless our children.
